Recruiting and retaining scientific talent has become increasingly difficult in the current job market. With lowering unemployment rates, candidates have more opportunities to choose from and companies need to change their recruiting and hiring methods to meet the demands for top talent. Attracting talent starts with a job posting that shows the company’s mission and value to a candidate. Recruiting and selecting candidates for technical roles requires specialized interviews with appropriate team members. To retain career-oriented candidates, companies must offer competitive benefits outside of the expected package – including professional growth opportunities, specified training, and a supportive management team.
In this presentation, we will go through creating a job posting that attracts the appropriate candidates to reduce time reviewing unqualified resumes. We will break down how to determine who is involved in the technical interview process while focusing on removing unnecessary steps that can lead to losing candidates. Finally, we’ll review types of benefits provided to employees for retaining top talent. This will create a plan for lab managers on how to review their entire hiring process to find, hire, and retain qualified scientific candidates.
